Lyn has always enjoyed interacting with friends from many different cultures and the UCA’s partner churches. She served as an educator with the United Mission to Nepal between 1988 and 1996, and on return to Adelaide became an International Mission officer in the Presbytery of SA. After ordination as a Deacon she pastored a congregation of mainly Liberian origin in the western suburbs of Adelaide.
The Grove Uniting Church is located in a culturally and linguistically rich area of Adelaide’s north-west, and has for decades received and welcomed wave after wave of new arrivals and refugees. The latest wave came following civil wars in West Africa, especially Liberia. The congregation aims to support these refugees and others in its neighbourhood in their difficult journey of adjusting to Australian life.
